This morning around 4:00 a.m. I was up and ready to start my day. Well, sort of. I decided to make some earwires. Many of my customers are always surprised that I make my own earwires. When they find out I notice them taking a deeper look at the earrings they plan to buy. They apparently, at this point "get it". It's all handcrafted, timely to make, and pretty darn neat. Did I just date myself by using "neat". So be it.
Here are a couple of photos of just one of the stages I use to make earwires. After cutting the wire I file the ends, form the wire, using a rawhide hammer I harden the earwires. I throw the earwires in my tumbler with a little dish detergent and stainless steel shot for a bit to clean and harden the earwires completely. What you see in the photos are the earwires and shot being rinsed and dried. Now to design...What to do...What to do?
