Betsey Johnson so Creative

I love how Betsey Johnson never lives in a box! I wish I could be her for one day just to see her mind flow. Can you imagine? Over many years Betsey Johnson has built quite an empire and a unique style. I first noticed her earrings in Macy's. I loved the shocking pink earring cards. Good marketing.

I found this on twitter....Betsey is now venturing into dishes, cups and whatever her little heart desires. I love these! I love mixing up dishes.

Betsey, never stop being creative. You inspire me to "think". xoxo right back at you!

Happy Fourth of July ~ 2015

Happy Fourth of July!

Every July 4th I am reminded I am one more year cancer free! It will be 21 years that I was in the hospital for three weeks. Believe it or not I have funny memories of that time period. Thank goodness the funny memories outweigh  the not so funny memories. I will elaborate on only one for now....

My poor husband! He was taking care of everything and everyone. He is certainly my rock! Trying to take care of our son, taking care of our dog, Ziggy (who we adopted-Ziggy was an abused dog and did not like men). He wouldn't go outside for my husband. It took my husband 3 days to finally get him to go do "his stuff" outside. Ziggy, my little sweetie didn't GO for 3 days - not even inside! She only let me take care of her.

Ok...
That was not the story I was going to tell! So...

My husband came to see me in the hospital July 4th. He told me he was going to take our son on his family's boat to see the fireworks. He told me he left our son with his cousins on the boat and he was headed back after he visited with me.

The funny thing is...
Our son went back to school and told his teacher that his Dad left him on a boat!

Ok...
I live by the Jersey shore and LOVE sea glass! I don't usually make or wear awareness jewelry. I decided to try to come up with something a little different.

This is a copper cuff that I hand stamped with SURVIVOR . I attached a piece of white surf tumbled sea glass with a dainty pink Swarovski crystal. It dangles just right!

The Year of Learning New Things

I decided this year to take time off from doing shows and just provide new designs online with Etsy and my To Be Me Jewelry website. I felt like I was getting a little stale in what I was creating. Presently, I am having a fun creating new and old designs....feeling renewed!

This is what I have been (pardon the pun)tooling around with...

I decided to buy a stamp set from Beaducation. I love it!

I had some sterling silver flat wire that I have been hoarding for quite awhile. Sooooo...I handcrafted a couple of bangles.

I decided to stick to copper for now since I am sure I will be making LOTS of mistakes. I also like copper jewelry especially when it's oxidized. Copper is a very grounding metal.

The cuffs came out pretty cool ~ don't you think? Since I live by the Jersey shore the sayings go pretty well ~~~~ Make Waves and Seas the Day.  I haven't listed any of the cuffs on my websites yet. I thought I would offer you a little peek in my Claireworld of creativity.

Have a great day....don't forget to wear your flip-flops!

Just Tooling Around in My Workshop

I admit ~ I've been lazy in just about everything lately! Perhaps it's been the winter weather or just a brief break I needed to do.  I've been working on a few new things here they are....

This will be placed on white paper bags. I finally found out I can print bags on my computer. Cute, right?

A fun leather cord necklace with surf-tumbled sea glass. I embossed a copper disc and oxidized it. The disc is approximately 1 1/2 inches. Big and bold! A great summer fun necklace.

Fun earrings designed with German silver. I cut, embossed, oxidized the discs. Sterling silver or surgical steel ear wires are available upon request. I am having a lot of fun with embossing.

I love the simplicity of light summer jewelry. This necklace is just that! I designed this necklace with stainless steel ball chain. The disc is German silver, cut, embossed, oxidized by me. Of course, I had to add a piece of surf-tumbled sea glass. Living at the Jersey shore you NEED some sort of sea glass jewelry.

Matching earrings to the Sand Dollar Necklace. Available with sterling silver ear wires or surgical steel ear wires. Disc is one inch. Light weight and just fun.

I absolutely love these earrings! Light weight and oh so cool! Again, I cut, embossed and oxidized the discs. They are approximately one inch from ear wire. These earrings still need to be uploaded on both Etsy and my my main website www.ToBeMeJewelry.com

I also updated my graphics on www.ToBeMeJewelry.com . It needed to be updated. There is so much work to do with social media. I sometimes just throw up my hands and just decide to relax and have fun creating.

Soooooo.....hmmmm....I guess I haven't been that lazy!

What's up with you my Beadheads? Take care and have a great day!

A Little Chit-Chat today and a Recipe IRISH SODA BREAD!

It is soooooooo cold here at the Jersey shore right now! Yesterday, it was 14 degrees at 9:30 a.m. I took my son to basketball practice and nearly froze my dupa off!  Since, it's wintertime I decided to bake something new from a recipe I had stashed away several years.

Doesn't it look good?  It was GOOD!

This recipe comes from Jenny's Restaurant in Lahaska, Pennsylvania. Although, Jenny's is no longer in Lahaska I am still enjoying their soda bread.

Years ago, my friends and I would go to New Hope, PA for a girl's weekend. Jenny's was our favorite restaurant to have lunch.

BEST IRISH SODA BREAD

4 cups all purpose flour
3 tbs.  sugar
4 tbs.  baking powder
1 cup  currants or dark raisins
½ tsp.  baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
1 tsp.   salt
a little melted butter
a little sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven 350 degrees. Grease and flour cookie sheet. (I used PAM and no flour). Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar. Stir in raisins. Add buttermilk, mix until it forms a dough ball, add cinnamon, mix slightly. Knead by machine or hand for 5 min. (I did it by hand right in the bowl-I put flour on my hands so not to stick). Form dough in 3 or 4 oval balls. Bake 35-40 minutes until loaf is lightly browned and sounds hollow. Remove to wire rack (I used a pizza rack) brush with the melted butter and dust with the little bit of sugar.

I don't pretend to be a great cook. I usually take a recipe and make it my own. Usually...it comes out pretty darn good! Enjoy! This soda bread makes great toast.

Embossed Earrings

I have been fun using german silver! I have 99% of the time used sterling silver or gold filled metals. Using my disc cutter I cut one inch round discs, embossed the discs with my Vintaj Big Shot, oxidized the earrings and here they are...oh and little purple beads. I like the "long legs" on the ear wires, don't you? They are surgical steel ear wires. My ears are sensitive and I have no trouble using these ear wires. Very lightweight!

They are now listed on Etsy... https://www.etsy.com/shop/ToBeMeJewelry
